Capturing Cherished Moments ~

A smiling woman with wavy hair carrying a baby on her shoulders outdoors, with trees in the background.

hey there, I’m Monique!

If you were to scroll through my phone, you’d probably find somewhere in the vicinity of 50,000 photographs. And yes, that’s after several very ambitious attempts at a camera roll cull.

I’ve always been the person behind the camera. My family have affectionately called me the “family photographer” for as long as I can remember, and I have many memories are of organising little photoshoots with friends and family, even as far back as primary school. I’ve always loved photographs - not just taking them, but the way they can hold onto a moment long after it has passed.

It wasn’t until I had my daughter, Heidi, that I started to wonder if perhaps I could actually turn that love into something more.

And, rather ironically, becoming a mum made me realise just how worth the investment photographs really are.

I didn’t have maternity photographs taken. I didn’t book a newborn photographer early enough. And before I knew it, those tiny newborn days were already disappearing. Heidi changed so quickly that I found myself wishing I had documented more of those little details – the things I thought I’d remember forever, but knew I wouldn’t quite be able to.

Somewhere in those long newborn days, I had a thought: I could create these memories for other people.

Maybe I could give another mum the photographs I wished I had. Maybe I could help families slow down for a little while and preserve this fleeting season before it changes again.

And so, here I am.

I’m building a business that allows me to do something I’ve always loved, while creating a life that feels right for our little family. I’ve always been creative, I’ve always wanted to work for myself, and I’ve always dreamed of creating a comfortable life for the people I love. Photography feels like the perfect coming-together of all of those things.

These days, you’ll find me on our farm with my husband, Simon, and our little girl, usually spending our spare time with family, wandering around outside, or taking - you guessed it - far too many photographs (at least that's what my husband says).

I’m drawn to the beauty in the ordinary. The muddy little feet, the wild hair, the belly laughs, the sleepy cuddles, the golden light across the paddocks and the people who make a place feel like home

That’s what I want to give you, too.

Not just photographs of what your family looked like, but photographs that take you right back to what it felt like to be here, together, in this little season of your life.
